Suitable sites for Athenry’s Gaelscoil Riada and Gaelcholáiste complex are being sought by the Galway County Council and the Department of Education, and a planning application will be lodged once a site is identified.
The news has been welcomed by Labour Galway East senator Lorraine Higgins. “This is great news for the Athenry," she said. "I hope the matter will be progressed as swiftly as possible. Our schools are at the heart of our communities and it is imperative they receive the infrastructural supports necessary to help pupils thrive and to empower educators in their important work.”
