Climb the Reek and help Galway Hospice furnish its new extension

Have you ever considered climbing Croagh Patrick? There will never be a better time to do it.

A Croagh Patrick Climb is taking place again this year, on Saturday June 13 in aid of Galway Hospice. Their goal is to raise €40,000 to equip and furnish the six new inpatient rooms due to be completed by September. This extension will include assisted bathrooms, along with a family room, kitchen and shower facilities.

Events like this are hugely important to its annual fundraising drive. The Hospice staff depend on the community’s support to ensure the ongoing free availability of hospice services. Home Care, Day Care and Bereavement Support services which now cost €1.6 million annually are funded entirely by voluntary contributions.

Demand for all services provided by Galway Hospice continues to increase. In fact, during 2014 alone, theHome Care team made 5,554 ‘Hospice at Home’ visits throughout County Galway, including the Aran Islands. In the same period, the Day Care Centre provided a blend of clinical, therapeutic and recreational supports for 1,185 patient visits.

This event is aimed at individuals as well as groups / clubs / companies. Everyone is welcome to take part. All proceeds raised will be donated to Galway Hospice.

This is not only a fantastic way to raise funds for Galway Hospice, but it is also a way to get fit and healthy!
