Pro-gay marriage supporters to say why they are voting Yes

Yes campaigners in the marriage equality referendum will speak on why they are voting Yes, as well as taking questions from the public, at an event being held this evening.

Yes Equality Galway and RTÉ broadcaster Charlie Bird are hosting I’m Voting Yes, Ask Me Why in The Kitchen Café, Galway City Museum at 6pm. Speakers will include Labour TD Derek Nolan, Fine Gael senator Hildegarde Naughton, Sinn Féin senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh, Sinn Féin city councillor Cathal Ó Conchúir, Mr Gay Galway Gary Ridge, counselling psychotherapist Katherine McGee, as well as Maureen Clancy, and Miriam Walsh.

It is also hoped that Fine Gael TD Seán Kyne, city councillor Catherine Connolly, and members of Druid Theatre Company will also attend.

“It’s really important that we have this conversation in Galway,” said Yes Equality Galways Sarah Clancy. “With four weeks to the Referendum there’s lots of time for people to have their questions answered. Yes Equality Galway will be canvassing throughout April and May around the city and county and look forward to talking with as many people as possible about sharing the freedom to marry.”

The next I’m Voting Yes, Ask Me Why event takes place in Ballinasloe on Tuesday April 28 at 7pm. The marriage equality referendum takes place on May 22.
