Appeal for information after tiny pup dumped in bin

The GSPCA has this week asked the public to keep an eye out for abandoned pups following the discovery of a three-week old pup in a wheelie bin in Gort.

The dog, believed to be a Pomeranian/shiatsu cross, had been subjected to a botched tail docking procedure. The tiny pup also had a skin infection and was riddled with worms.

A GSPCA spokesperson this week pointed out that tail docking is illegal, and the charity is concerned that more pups may also be abandoned.

“Someone had to see the so-called human who did this,” the spokesperson said. “Tail docking is against the law but these people think they’re above the law.”

The tiny pup has been named Wheeler and is being looked after by a GSPCA fosterer.

The GSPCA is asking anyone with information to contact its office at 091 563631, or Gort Garda Station at 091 636400.
