Radisson roof to be lifted by excellence of entrants in Choirfactor sing-off

Excitement is mounting for the Choirfactor which takes place on Saturday March 28 in the Radisson Blu Hotel at 8pm.

The annual choral extravaganza will feature a ‘sing-off’ between newly formed choirs from local Galway companies Aerogen, Avaya and Medtonic; community choirs Notorious and Something to Sing About; and the Galway Golf Club Choir.

All funds raised at the Choirfactor event goes towards running therapeutic retreat days in the SCCUL Sanctuary at Kilcuan, Clarinbridge for people struggling with life challenges including cancer, Parkinson’s disease, MS, Alzheimer’s, depression and bereavement through suicide.

The competitive edge is remarkable in the final days leading up to the event according to Brendan O Connor, head judge of the adjudicating panel for the Choirfactor.

“There is always a high pitch of excitement on the night of the competition with choirs having heard others warm up and try to figure out how good they are in relation to one another, ” says Mr O’Connor who directs the renowned Galway chamber choir Cois Cladaigh.

Judging with Brendan O’Connor will be Maire MacLochlainn and Dottie Knauer, both of whom are well known in music circles.

Tickets are selling out fast as several multinational companies support their choirs and a full house is expected in the Radisson Ballroom for this years event on Saturday March 28. SCCUL Sanctuary Manager Trisha Murphy has advised people planning to attend the event that doors will be open at 7.30pm
