Amelia Curran at Monroe’s Live

AMELIA CURRAN, the Juno Award winning singer-songwriter has been described as “a bit like Leonard Cohen being channelled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline.”

That verdict comes from Canadian newspaper The National Post and Galway audiences can see for themselves when she plays Monroe’s Live on Saturday February 14 at 9pm. She will perform songs from her latest album They Promised You Mercy, released in November. It's lead single was 'I Am The Night':

Curran is no stranger to awards or critical acclaim. She received her first Juno Award (the Canadian Grammy ) for Hunter, Hunter in 2010. It also received four ECMA nominations, four Music NL awards, and three Music NS awards. Spectators (2012 ) was nominated for a Juno and described by Q as containing “poetic loveliness” and by the Telegraph Online as having “a strong, quietly forceful album”. She cites influences such as Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen and Pablo Neruda.
