Make a Brigit’s Cross for local charities

Brigit’s Garden is inviting the public to make a Brigit’s cross for themselves and one for charity at a special event to celebrate St Brigit’s Day on Sunday (February 1 ).

The crosses will be distributed to COPE, Simon Galway, Galway Hospice, and local nursing homes.

“We are delighted to have great interest from local charities and would like to encourage people to come and have a go at making Brigit’s crosses as well as enjoying the Celtic Gardens,” says Jenny Beale, Brigit’s Garden director.

The event runs from 1.30pm to 5pm and rushes and instruction will be provided.

As well as cross-making in the visitor centre, there will be a full afternoon of fun events for all ages with story-telling in the thatched roundhouse, a Brigit quiz around the gardens for children, and an opportunity to explore the Celtic gardens in spring. This is an all-weather event and the Garden Café will also be open.

For further details and admission prices see www.brigitsgarden.ie or call 091 550905. Brigit’s Garden is a registered charity and all proceeds go to support the project.
