Telegael seeks young actors for new film

THE EMMY award winning An Spidéal based film and animation company Telegael is in pre-production with Morten, the first stop-motion animation feature film produced in Ireland.

Telegael is now seeking young people aged between eight and 13 to provide the voice of the film’s main characters Morten and Elizabeth. No acting experience is needed. Those interested should record one of the following pieces:

For boys - “Hello! My name is Morten. I’ve made a little ship and I’m going to sail it around the world. It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my whole life. My dad is a captain. He’s away at sea. I can’t wait till he comes back.”

For girls - “Hello! My name’s Elizabeth. I live in the Butterfly café with my mum. She makes me do ballet. I’m not very good at it. One day I’ll escape. I’ll go away to a place where no-one tells me what to do. Then I’ll dance my own dance.”

The piece should be recorded into a phone or other sort of recording device and be emailed to [email protected] or send in hard copy form to Telegael, An Spidéal, County Galway. The best entries will be called back for a further audition.

Morten is a co-production with Estonia’s Nukufilm and Canada’s Carpe Diem.
