The Minister for Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, has accepted an invitation to visit the site of the Solas Picture Palace in Galway and meet its promoters.
The visit is being arranged by local Fine Gael TD Brian Walsh, who says the Minister will be discussing the current funding shortfall affecting the project, and proposals to bring the construction to completion.
“The Picture Palace project has been in the pipeline for 10 years and a variety of complexities have caused setbacks and prevented its completion,” said Deputy Walsh.
“The Government has invested considerable resources in the project and it is appropriate that the Minister would visit the site to appraise the situation and hear proposals for its advancement.
“Minister Humphreys has accepted my invitation and will be making arrangements to come to Galway in the coming weeks for this purpose.”
