Massive new sports facility to open in Knocknacarra

A new sports and leisure facility due to be launched in Galway in the coming months will create up to 30 jobs and offer a major boost in terms of the leisure facilities available in the city.

Pure Skill, Fusion of Sport will open on the Western Distributor Road later this year. The facility, measuring more than 30,000sq ft, will include facilities for a range of national and international sports, along with a viewing gallery and coffee shop.

Pure Skill, or 'Fior Scil' in Irish, is the brainchild of managing directors Adrian Reen and Patrick Flanagan, who have researched and developed the idea over the last two years.

“This vast indoor space will allow teams to compete as they would in an outdoor arena, but with all the positive and fun benefits of a leisure centre,” they said this week.

The Pure Skill construction project was designed by Tobin consulting engineers and Callahan Construction.
