DAMIEN RICE will play the Galway International Arts Festival Big Top on Thursday July 16. The concert, which will take place in the Fisheries Field, will be the singer-songwriter’s arts festival debut.

Rice broke an eight year silence with the release of his new album My Favourite Faded Fantasy in October. It was co-produced by Rick Rubin (Slayer, Johnny Cash, Public Enemy, Neil Diamond ) and Rice, and recorded in Iceland and Los Angeles.

Led by new single ‘I Don’t Want To Change You’, the album returned Rice to critical and public favour, going Number 1 in Ireland and Top 10 in Britain. Indeed The Sunday Times has declared it “an instant classic of extraordinary beauty and vulnerability”; Time Out gave it five stars; Rolling Stone named it Album of the Month; while The Daily Telegraph hailed Rice as “the most influential singer-songwriter of this century”.

On stage, Rice has always been a captivating and powerful performer and his recent, sold-out show, at London’s Palladium this year further confirmed this, with The Guardian, in a five-star live review, saying it was “a musically and emotionally momentous offering...a truly staggering evening.”

Damien Rice will perform on The Late Late Show on Friday December 12.

The concert is a ‘Galway International Arts Festival and the Róisín Dubh presents...’ event. Tickets are €39.50 and go on sale on Friday December 12 through www.giaf.ie and roisindubh.net The Galway International Arts Festival runs from July 13 to 26 2015.
