King of the world champs

Celine King of Galway Kettlebells has won gold at the World Kettlebell Championships in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday.

King, in her first international competition, won the veteran division’s snatch 16kg event - lifting a16kg kettlebell for 10 minutes with a one hand switch in the 68kg+ weight division.

Coached by Sarah Smith of Galway Kettlebells, King gained her place on the Irish team at the Cup of Ireland in August.

A member of the All Ireland Kettlebell Lifting Federation, the Irish team boasted 30 athletes from various clubs.

Ireland was rated 14th in the world after the three-day event with more than 500 athletes competing from 35 teams in both amateur and professional divisions.
