Corribdale Duathlon on this Saturday

The second annual Corribdale Duathlon will take place on Saturday in Oughterard.

This exciting event is a unique mix of cycling and running with participants first competing in a 4k run before tackling a 13km cycle, and finishing with a 2km.

While it is expected that many triathletes, cyclist and runners will take part, the event is open to anyone who would like to take on the challenge.

The duathlon is a fundraiser for the Corribdale project to develop a sporting complex in Oughterard.

The cost is €25 per person for individual entries, and €40 per two-person relay team.

The first run is a flat technical course over 4k along the banks of the Owenriff River, while the 13k bike course takes place on the N59 with two inclines at the beginning and the end of the leg. The final run leg is only 2k and again on a flat course to guarantee fast times.

Trisha Streiloff and physios from Thera Fitness will be offering free rub downs after the event.

Registration is available from 8am at the Oughterard Boxing Club, beside the GAA Club. The event begins at 10am.
