Corinthians gain win against Sligo in the Connaught League

Corinthians have bounced back with a win in the Connaught League against Sligo RFC in Cloonacauneen Park on Saturday August 23.

The previous week they lost out away to Buccaneers in a close encounter. The home side got off to a flier with early tries by left winger Darren Griffin and fullback Dave Panter. Newcomer outhalf Nathan Langsford converted one of same before his opposite Connor Keirns secured an excellent penalty for the visitors. Lock James Connolly and right winger Owen Daly added a brace of touchdowns before the break as Panter converted one of the tries.

The home side scored again after the oranges as Daly touched down for a fine effort, Langsford converted same from the touchline. The division three side finally got more into the game with two fine touchdowns by Rory Kerins and Arron Spring, one of same was converted by Connor Kerins.

The Cloonacauneen outfit upped their game after this set back as substitute Bryon Dixon ran in for an opportunist try. Daly got in for his third touchdown some minutes later and newcomer center Charlie Ryan also got his name on the scoreboard. New Zelander Nathan Langsford added the extras for the home side to finish comfortable winners as IRFU referee Danial Collins called full time. The final score stood at 50 points to Corinthians, with 15 points to Sligo.

Corinthians next outing is against Galwegians on Saturday August 30, and the venue will be Cloonacauneen Park. Kick off will be at 2.30pm.
