Galway Ladies prepare to step up

The Galway Ladies will travel to St Brendan's Park (Birr ) this Saturday to take on Monaghan in the All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Championship quarter-final.

Beaten All Ireland finalists last season, Monaghan overcame Ulster rivals Tyrone at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park in Longford on Saturday by 1-16 to 3-7 victory.

However Galway have been going well this season. At the third time of asking they achieved their ambition of returning to division one football, they have overcome Mayo for a third year, and the minors have already triumphed over Cork to win the All Ireland title.

They have also some key experienced players in captain Sinead Burke, Annette Clarke, Emer Flaherty and Lorna Joyce, backed up with firepower from Roisin Leonard and Edel Concannon, who will relish the chance to take on a team that has consistently been one of the top four in the country.

Throw-in for this game is at 2.15pm and all Galway support would be greatly appreciated.
