PHIL COSBY is a man who is not afraid of the brutal. He takes his audience on a journey through luscious folk ballads, to out and out rock and roll, to driving dance grooves, and transient soundscapes.
His voice is crisp, clear, and soulful, as is his guitar style. A singer-songwriter at heart, Phil’s passion for words is apparent in a lyrical style reminiscent of John Martyn or Neil Young.
Raised on a farm in County Wicklow, Phil Cosby’s songwriting has led him to work with an array of world-class musicians, and working with studio legend Phill Brown, whose talents are linked to Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and Bob Marley, Cosby released his debut album The Deal this year. The album boasts contributions from a list of heavyweights including Mercury Prize nominee Jon Hopkins.
This August he will visit Ireland with a full band for a tour culminating at The Electric Picnic festival.
He brings his show to Monroe’s Live Main Stage on Saturday August 23 at 10pm. For tickets, visit www.monroes.ie
