Bank of Ireland announces major redevelopment to Mainguard Street branch

Bank of Ireland has announced major renovations to its branch on Mainguard Street.

The development will deliver a new ‘open-front’ plan for the ground floor of the premises, which will feature, among other things, new digital zones that will allow customers to interact with the full range of Bank of Ireland services without the need for tellers.

In order to facilitate the redevelopment, the branch will temporarily move to the second floor of the premises where customers can conduct their business with the staff tellers. Counter cash services will be relocated to the nearby branches of Eyre Square, Salthill, Mervue, and NUI Galway.

External ATMs will also continue to operate at the location with minimum disruption, and the internal ATM service, where people can lodge and withdraw cash, will be available at its current temporary location.

Branch manager, Pat Fleming, commented on the announcement by saying: “This is a major innovative project that will transform our style of banking in Mainguard Street and position Galway as a leader in modern retail bank design.”

Bank of Ireland aims to officially launch the new branch in October.
