THE WATERBOYS violinist Steve Wickham and the acclaimed Mallorcan guitarist Felip Carbonell, are two members of a band called No Crows.
The band, which includes bassist Eddie Lee, Swiss cellist/mandolinist Anna Houston, Russian gypsy violinist Oleg Ponomarev, and singer-songwriter Ray Coen, all met in 2005 via an informal session in a Sligo pub called Shoot the Crows.
Encouraged by the public response, the musicians agreed to join forces as the band No Crows was born. Nine years later, the band have performed at some of Europe’s top festivals, including Glastonbury and Dranouter.
No Crows play Monroe’s Live tonight at 8.30pm with support from the Corn Potato String Band.
Tickets are available from www.monroes.ie or for €15 on the door.
