A bluegrass night in Galway

THE BLUEGRASS sounds of the Southern states of America will be heard loud and proud in Galway, tomorrow, with a gig by Gone To Grass.

English/Irish quartet Gone To Grass play The Crane Bar, Sea Road, and mix original songs with folk standards, and pop/rock covers reinvented in a bluegrass style.

The band is led by Pete Lamb who played on the British bluegrass scene for several years before moving to Ireland in 2004. He also spent time exploring the music in Nashville, and is the band’s principle songwriter.

The line-up is completed by Tom Portman, best known for his Dobro guitar playing, which combines folk, blues, and world music; bassist Paul Johnson, who has worked with De Dannan, Ronnie Drew, and John Prine; and Bill Forster on the five- string banjo.
