A night of Italian doom metal

ASTRONOMY, MEDIAEVAL European history, and Sardinian myths collide in the music of Italian doom metal band Black Capricorn.

Black Capricorn headline the Walpurgis Night III event, organised by HexenHaus Promotions, in The Cellar Bar tomorrow.

The Sicilian trio have been described by Marilena Moroni of Doomantia.com as “fuzz-soaked, creepy retro-sounding, mid-to slow-paced psych doom rock...driven by the hypnotic, downtuned bass where lead guitar periodically knits groovy riffs and space-psychedelic effects”.

Their sound is influenced by Pink Floyd, Kyuss, and Reverend Bizzare. They have released two albums, Black Capricorn (2009 ), Born Under the Capricorn (2013 ), with a third to follow later this year.

Also on the bill are Galway bands Between The Lines, Na Cruithne, Weed Priest, and Ten Ton Slug, as well as Mayo’s On Pain Of Death and Pilgrimage, and Dublin’s Nautilus. Doors are at 6pm. Admission is €4.
