NUIG research building wins architectural award

The Hardiman Research Building at NUI Galway has won the title of Architectural Project of the Year at this year's CMG Awards Ceremony.

The Hardiman Research Building provides space for arts, humanities and social science researchers, and in particular, for the secure display of important archives and special collections.

Its distinctive ‘blonde’ coloured limestone cladding, which changes character in the rain, is a major part of the architecture while the large glazed element provides reflections of the trees and buildings from several angles. The Hardiman Research Building was nominated by architects RAUG+Payette.
