Get your Tweet on at free social media talk next month

Learn how to get the most out of Twitter at a free briefing event organised by Irish Times Training, which will take place in Galway next month.

Awarding-winning Irish Times journalist Conor Pope will give the briefing, entitled Get Your Tweet On, in the House Hotel on Tuesday April 15 from 6pm to 7pm.

Mr Pope is a prolific Tweeter and has close to 40,000 followers on the social network. At this event he will talk about the potential and the pitfalls associated with Twitter, and share tips on how and when to write the perfect tweet in order to engage your existing followers and gain new ones.

The Irish Times journalist, broadcaster, and best-selling author writes extensively about consumer issues in his work as Pricewatch editor of The Irish Times. He also has a weekly radio slot on the Ray D’Arcy Show on Today FM, and appears frequently on radio programmes presented by George Hook, Marian Finucane, and Matt Cooper, among others. The briefing is being hosted by Irish Times Training, which runs a diploma course in digital marketing.

“This networking opportunity is suitable both for those with experience on Twitter and those who are new to it,” said Julie Talbot Brady of Irish Times Training. “At the briefing Conor will share some insider tips on how to interact on Twitter and how to build a following.”

The Irish Times Training diploma in digital marketing is delivered in association with the Irish Internet Association and is endorsed by Enterprise Ireland. The programme has been running in the Western Management Centre in Galway for the last number of years. “Over that time, the people who have benefited from our expertise span HR departments across business, Government, large corporations and SMEs, as well as individuals,” said Ms Talbot Brady.
