Galway Community Circus at the double

GALWAY COMMUNITY Circus return to the Black Box Theatre for two thrilling new circus shows this weekend; Circopolis and Circopolín Children.

Circopolis takes place at 7.30pm tomorrow and Saturday, while Circopolín Children is on at 3pm on Saturday.

The shows mark the culmination of Galway Community Circus’s residency with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre, Ireland’s premiere aerial dance company. Circopolis features a cast of 40, drawn from company members aged from 12 to 20 while Circopolín Children boasts a truly humongous troupe of 110 performers, comprising the company’s younger groups, aged five to 11.

Both shows draw their original inspiration from the world of Greek myth, with lots of added inventiveness and intriguing twists. On the streets of Circopolis, myth and magic meld together and adventure waits around every corner. Watch the laws of gravity vanish through a breath-taking display of aerial dance and circus arts in this stunning youth circus spectacle.

In Circopolín Children, the gods of old reveal themselves to us mere mortals in an astonishing extravaganza of circus, dance and visual wonder. This promises to be a performance the whole family will enjoy.

The two shows will showcase the young students’ abilities in circus skills many of which they have arranged themselves under the guidance of their tutors. This is indeed the aim of Galway Community Circus, as a youth arts charity, to provide a fun and safe environment where young people can learn and then develop their own ideas and inspirations.

The shows are funded by the Arts Council Youth Ensemble Scheme. Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie Roll up, roll up!
