Cubbard demands action on Westside issues

Blocked gullies have subjected Gaelcarrig Park households to water rising to front doors levels and locals calling that part of the estate ‘The Lake’.

According to Independent Galway City Central candidate Mike Cubbard, City Hall has been notified on many occasions of ‘The Lake’ which has now resulted at the rear of Gaelcarrig Park, but still “the issue remains”.

“I have contacted the maintenance and water departments to address this and remain hopeful they will visit the area this week,” he said.

Mr Cubbard has accused Galway City Central councillors and City Hall of “ignoring” pressing issues around Westside, particularly in Corrach Bui.

According to Mr Cubbard, the road within the estate is in very poor condition, but no repair works have yet been carried out.

Mr Cubbard was informed by the Galway City Council this week that the developer has been told to have repair works carried out as a matter of urgency. Landscaping repairs are also due to be carried out in the area.

The Independent candidate is also calling for extra speed ramps in Camillaun Park and for adequate lighting for a laneway used by Coogan Park and Gaelcarrig Park residents.
