New exhibition from Jennifer Cunningham

JENNIFER CUNNINGHAM, one of Galway and Ireland’s leading young artists, will host her latest solo exhibition Collective Pleasures in the Galway Arts Centre.

The exhibition open this Saturday at 6pm in Gallery 1 in the Dominick Street venue and will feature 2D and video work.

Cunningham’s practice deals with our surroundings, peripheral zones, and how familiar environments can sometimes appear slightly unsettling or eerie. She has also been developing a body of work dealing with deserted seaside resort areas, and amusement parks that have succumbed to neglect.

Jennifer works with paint, printmaking, film, digital media, and drawing. A graduate of GMIT, she has won several awards for her work including the Taylor Art Award and the Thomas Dammann Travel Award. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.

Collective Pleasures runs until February 22. A text by writer Phil Sun will accompany the exhibition. See www.jennifercunningham.ie
