Mandy beats the floods to host wedding fair

Due to the extreme weather conditions experienced across the west of Ireland last weekend, the organisers of the Dream Weddings Exhibition had to take unprecedented steps to save the day.

Flooding and high winds caused extensive damage to the main pool and gym areas in Leisureland, where the exhibition was due to take place, and all main routes into Salthill were closed as the fire brigade and council workers began the clean-up operation. Luckily the main exhibition hall was not affected by the storm but was without power for most of Friday and Saturday.

The event organisers have worked tirelessly over the last few days to secure a new date, and the exhibition will now go ahead in Leisureland this weekend.

Mandy Maher and her husband Ger have been running the exhibition in Leisureland for more than 10 years, providing local businesses with an opportunity to showcase the outstanding services available to couples planning their dream day. The exhibition is the largest wedding show to take place outside Dublin and features some 70 exhibitors from across the west of Ireland

“We would like to thank all of our exhibitors, the staff and management in Leisureland, and the public for the overwhelming support we received over the last week,” Mandy Maher said. “We were left with no other option but to reschedule the exhibition and are delighted that every one of our exhibitors will be with us this weekend.”

The Dream Weddings Exhibition will take place on Saturday January 11 and Sunday January 12 in Leisureland, with doors open from 12 noon until 6pm on both days.
