Cancer Care West launches new Christmas card collection

Cancer Care West, the west of Ireland cancer charity, is urging everyone to support a good cause when sending their best wishes this Christmas.

A new range of cards for 2013 were launched by Connacht Rugby who are Cancer Care West’s charity partner for the season.

Buying Christmas cards from a charity can make all the difference, says Richard Flaherty, CEO of Cancer Care West. He added: “A little charity goes a long way, every cent of these unique cards will go directly towards Cancer Care West, Christmas cards are a fantastic way to send Christmas wishes, while also supporting your local charity’’.

Money and time donated by generous donors goes towards providing cancer information and support services to thousands affected by cancer each year. Cancer is a growing concern in Ireland. One in three people will develop cancer during their lifetime. Latest data shows that 33,741 people were diagnosed with cancer in Ireland in 2010, and this year and it is expected that there will be up to 35,000 new cases of cancer diagnoses across the country.

Christmas card sales are an important source of funds for Cancer Care West; the proceeds go towards funding Inis Aoibhinn, Cancer Care West’s residential lodge, and the cancer support centre. All services provided by Cancer Care West are made available to patients and their families at no cost.

Printed locally in Castle Print, each pack of cards will include 12 cards and retails at €6.50 per pack. Packs are available in more than 100 outlets in the West of Ireland including Eason’s, Joyce’s, Supervalu Barna, Salmons Ballinasloe, News and Choose Loughrea and many more.
