2014 Renault Megane is rejuvenated and refreshed

The Renault Megane range has undergone a stylish facelift and will go on sale this month.

One of Renault’s most popular models, which was the best-selling car in Ireland in 2010, the Megane has been upgraded, giving it a more dynamic look.

As with all the new vehicles in the range, the Renault Mégane family is taking on the new brand identity. Mégane hatch, coupé and Grand Mégane now feature a new bumper, new vent grilles and a new hood bearing the enlarged Renault logo set against a gloss black background, giving it a stylish sleek look. The extensive Megane range is completed by its performance line-up which includes the GT Line and Renaultsport.

Renault Ireland boasts that comfort and driving pleasure remain the keywords for the brand’s quality flagship. The styling upgrade has strengthened the elegance and contemporary air of Mégane hatch, confirmed the appeal of Mégane coupé with its ever-dynamic sporty chic design lines, and safeguarded the practicality of Grand Mégane while emphasising the flow of its body styling.

Flexible, efficient and economical, the new Mégane range is equipped with the 'energy' engines derived from Formula 1 Technology, and Renault says they combine excitement, economy and a limited impact on the environment.

The updated Mégane hatch and Grand Mégane are available in three trim levels – Expression, Dynamique and GT Line. Mégane coupé is available in Dynamique and GT Line trims.

The new Mégane was the first Renault model to be available with the two new stop and start engines which combine both motoring enjoyment and fuel efficiency. They are the fruit of new-generation downsizing and call on Renault’s experience in F1 to form unprecedented technology packages for this level of range, including stop and start complete with deceleration and braking energy recovery.

Renault points out that thanks to its carefully-tuned acoustics, these engines produce a discreet, cushioned sound. Stop and start technology means drivers can save more than one litre of fuel per 100km in urban driving, while also reducing emissions. When the driver steps on the clutch the start is immediate. The driver also benefits from the 260Nm of torque, with 80 per cent of the torque available from 1,500 tr/min to allow recovery and acceleration.

The popular dCi 90 engine will be replaced by a dCi 95 engine, allowing the driver to benefit from an additional 40Nm of torque without any impact on the tax band (A3 ), with annual road tax of €190.

Renault's Energy TCe 115 S&S is also available across all three models with a claimed fuel consumption of 5.3L/100km (or 53mpg ) and 119g/km of CO2. The Energy dCi 110 S&S engine offers an claimed impressive 3.5L/100Km (81mpg ) and 90g/km of CO2. A dCi 110 EDC version is also available.

Renault’s R-Link touchscreen multimedia system (with TomTom navigation, multimedia, handsfree telephone calls and online applications ), and its Visio system (which uses a high definition camera to detect road markings and gives visual and audible warnings to the driver ) are both available as options on the new Mégane range.

The updated Mégane range is available to order now in Renault dealerships and it quotes finance rates from €189 per month with Renault Finance.
