PICTIÚR - AN exhibition of contemporary Irish children’s book illustrations, as part of the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, is running at the Galway Arts Centre.
Pictiúr is a group exhibition curated by Ireland’s current Laureate na nÓg, Niamh Sharkey, that brings together 42 artworks by 21 book illustrators.
The exhibition will be shown across six spaces on both floors of the arts centre. Each space has a different theme - ‘animals & beasts’, ‘welcome home’, and ‘dreaming the impossible’. There will also be a designated reading room with copies of all the books in which the exhibited illustrations feature.
The featured artists are Oliver Jeffers, PJ Lynch, Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick, Chris Haughton, Kevin Waldron, Chris Judge, Steve Simpson, Andrew Whitson, Michael Emberley, Donough O’Malley, Tatyana Feeney, Lily Bernard, Paul Howard, Anita Jeram, Olwyn Whelan, Adrienne Geoghegan, Olivia Golden, Oisín McGann, Alan Clarke, and Galway illustrator Mary Murphy.
