Advertiser continues digital growth with launch of classified ad website

The Galway Advertiser rolled out its newest digital product this week with the launch of the region’s largest classified ad website.

The site (classifieds.advertiser.ie ) will continue the excellent tradition that the Advertiser has in the compilation and publication of classified ads, dating back to its foundation in 1970.

Ads on the new website will be available for just €3 each — the most competitive rates available in the country for a site of this magnitude.

The launch was carried out by Mayor of Galway City Padraig Conneely who visited the Advertiser’s headquarters and met group chairman and company founder Ronnie O’Gorman, managing director Peter Timmins, financial director Joe Hynes, as well as management and staff of the company’s new products.

The website is the latest in a series of new digital products being developed inhouse at the Advertiser building in Eyre Square where four new jobs have already been created to form a team working under the advertiser.ie banner.

Mr Timmins said that the Advertiser group is keen to replicate online what the brand is in print terms.

“Connecting businesses with customers, and buyers with sellers, in the online space, will be the primary objective of this site. For members of the public wishing to buy or sell, classifieds.advertiser.ie, will provide the best range of goods and services in the West of Ireland, with the most price competitive rates available anywhere. So, whether you wish to buy or sell a car, rent a room, source a plumber or acquire any of a large number of services or products, the Advertiser classified site is all you need.

“The Galway Advertiser is a trusted local brand, and has served both the business community and the public of Galway for over 43 years. We are delighted to be at the forefront of developments in this changing media landscape, and can assure the Galway public that the same high standards and dedication to customer service will remain at the heart of what we do.”

Chairman Ronnie O’Gorman said that he was very excited at the developments already unveiled by the company and with those that are in the pipeline for release later this year and throughout 2014.

He paid tribute to the innovative teams working on all these projects and said that the Advertiser both online and in print, is well positioned to maintain the central role it occupies in the heart of Galway life.
