Frank Kearney to seek FG nomination as candidate

Long serving Fine Gael activist Frank Kearney is to seek nomination to stand as a Fine Gael candidate in the 2014 Local Elections in the Oranmore-Athenry Electoral area.

Mr Kearney’s announcement, which was made at a meeting of Turloughmore Fine Gael on Monday, comes in the wake of veteran FG county councillor Jarlath McDonagh’s declaration that he will not be contesting next year’s elections.

Mr Kearney said that if selected, he will “endeavour to continue on the great work carried out by Cllr Jarlath McDonagh over many years”. He added that his years of experience in youth work and youth projects has given him “a perfect understanding of the needs of the vibrant surrounding communities”.

He paid tribute to Cllr McDonagh saying he “became a representative for all the people and worked for all people across the party divide at all times”.
