New Irish comedy film to be screened at The Eye

THE O’BRIENS Movie, a new Irish comedy film shot in Headford, will be screened this evening in The Eye Cinema.

The O’Briens Movie was written by Slaine Kelly (The Tudors ) and Emmett Hughes who also produced and acted in the film. It received its world premiere at The Newport Beach Film Festival in April where it won the award for outstanding achievement in film making.

The cast and crew will attend the Eye Cinema screening and the event will be followed by an after show party at the g Hotel.

A comedy film, which brings a fresh outlook to the modern Irish family, it revolves around an Irish father who, two years after the death of his wife, has summoned his daughter and two sons back to their homestead in Galway. Tensions are high, secrets are revealed, and family bickering ensues as the siblings speculate on the reason for their father’s request.

The O’Briens Movie is directed by Richard Waters and features Liam McMahon (Hunger, Titanic: Blood and Steel ), Kelly Blaise (The Borgias ), Amber Jean Rowan (What Richard Did ), Lochlainn O’Mearain (Ros Na Rún ), Paddy C Courtney (Shameless, Paddywhackery ), Tommy O’Neill and Caroline Rothwell (Fair City ).

Music is by Paddy Casey and Roisin O, two of Ireland’s most recognisable musical acts, who will play music at the aftershow party.
