Canadian choir to sing in County Galway

NEWFOUNDLAND HAS been described by historian Tim Pat Coogan as “the most Irish place in the world outside of Ireland”.

The strong links between Canada and Ireland are often overlooked or ignored, but a concert taking place in Kilcummin Parish Church, Oughterard, on Saturday September 21 at 8pm will play a part in rectifying that.

The Legatos and Fortissimos Choir from Newfoundland is made of members who are all descended from Irish people who emigrated to the province between 1785 and 1835.

Tickets are €10 (available on request or at the door ). All proceeds will go to the church tower repair fund. All are welcome.
