Galway Races returns for September meeting

The Galway Races returns for its September outing at the Galway racecourse, Ballybrit.

The autumn meeting kicks off on Monday September 9 with the first race at 4.15p.m., Tuesday September 10 at 4.25pm, and on Wednesday, September 11 at 4.30 p.m.

There are 21 races, generously sponsored by many local firms over the three days. Monday will be all flat racing and all racing on Tuesday and Wednesday will be national hunt racing. There is an impressive total prize fund of €350,000 on offer which is sure to attract runners from many of the top stables across Ireland.

Patrons can enjoy all the wonderful facilities on offer at the Galway racecourse including seated balconies, excellent food, bar, and Tote facilities. Admission to the races each day is €15 with a discounted price for students and OAPs available with the appropriate identification, while children under the age of 14 go free. Car parking for this meeting is complimentary.

The feature race on Monday is ‘The Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes Race’, Tuesday has ‘The Deacy Gilligan Novice Steeplechase’, and Wednesday sees the running of ‘The Guinness Handicap Steeplechase’.
