Bluegrass master Tim O’Brien to play Galway

TIM O’BRIEN, one of America’s leading folk, bluegrass, and country musicians, is coming to Galway to play Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover.

Tim O’Brien plays on Friday August 16 at 9.30pm. He will be joined by Arty McGlynn, with support from The Whileaways.

O’Brien is a bandleader, songwriter, mentor, instrumentalist, and singer, and his songs have been covered by The Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Nickel Creek, Kathy Mattea, the New Grass Revival, and Seldom Scene.

He has recorded with Steve Martin, The Chieftains, and is sometimes a member of Mark Knopfler’s band. Knopfler has called him, “a master of American folk music, Irish music, Scottish music – it doesn't matter; a fine songwriter and one of my favourite singers.”
