Druid Debuts Reading for Galway Arts Festival

BE INFANTS In Evil, a new play by Brian Martin, will receive a rehearsed reading tomorrow at 2pm at the Druid Lane Theatre.

The event is part of Druid’s Debut Readings for the Galway Arts Festival ‘First Thought’ series of events.

Be Infants In Evil sees Fr Patrick (Peter Hanly ) hearing confessions from parishioners, such as Noleen (Bríd Ní Neachtain ) who for all her guilelessness, knows more than she lets on; Jacinta (Janet Moran ) who is anything but repentant for certain misdemeanours in the eyes of the church; and 12-year-old Henry (James Murphy ), who has somehow made it alone from the other side of the city to be with an old friend.

The play is directed by Conall Morrison, who is working with Druid for the first time.

Brian Martin is a Dubliner now resident in London. He is a graduate from TCD where he studied playwriting with Marina Carr and has been a participant in the Royal Court’s Young Writers’ Programme where Be Infants In Evil was developed.

The show contains strong language and references to scenes of a sexual nature. It is suitable for ages 16 and over only. Admission is €7
