Walpurgis Night II - heavy metal thunder

WALPURGIS NIGHT II, a night of heavy metal by some of the best bands working in that diverse genre, takes place in The Cellar Bar tomorrow night from 7pm.

Headlining are doom metal trio Brigantia. Despite hailing from Tipperary they have been compared to Scandinavian doom metallers Reverend Bizarre, Candlemass, and the originators of the entire metal genre - Black Sabbath.

As MetalIreland.com said: “Brigantia have managed to mix two things that don’t normally go together: the enjoyable, vintage Sabbath bounce of regular blues based doom, and that more serious, load-bearing side characterised by grimmer, slower riffing.”

Check out their EPs Chronicles of Doom (2007 ) and The Chronic Argonauts (2010 ).

Limerick’s Dark Matter are an instrumental three-piece playing a blend of post-metal, electronica, Goth, and prog. The band released the demo CD _adrift_2.0_ in 2010 and their debut album A Place of Memories and Ghosts last year.

Also playing are Armagh stoner metallers Astralnaut, Ennis alternative rockers Tensor, and Galwegians Weed Priest and Between The Lines. Admission is free.
