Fang Island to play Strange Brew

FANG ISLAND’S music is celebratory, ecstatic, joyful, and anthemic, combining the playfulness of indie-rock with the big guitar riffs and licks of classic rock.

“I am pretty ding-dong-doodily-delighted, all the time,” band leader Jason Bartell told New York Music News last year when explaining the irrepressibly upbeat nature of their music. The band also described their sound as “everyone high-fiving everyone”.

Another aspect of their sound was revealed at their wonderful 2010 Electric Picnic set, when they played a little of Thin Lizzy’s ‘Sarah’ - highlighting how the Irish band have influenced Fang Island’s harmony driven guitar work.

Dan Goldin of Decoy Music aptly noted how the Brooklyn based trio “successfully combine the lustre of indie pop with the technical eccentricities of progressive rock”.

Guitar workouts, indie-pop, crowd chants, uplifting music, a pure party atmosphere - Fang Island have something to offer guitar fanatics, indie hipsters, and people who simply want a good night out.

As Pitchfork said: “Honest, life-affirming, and infectious, and it’s that rare concentration of directness and simplicity that makes Fang Island so uniquely and wonderfully inclusive.”

Fang Island - Jason Bartell (guitar/vocals ), Chris Georges (guitar/vocals ), and Marc St Sauveur (drums ) - play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Thursday May 9 at 9pm.

Support is from No Spill Blood and It Was All A Bit Black & White. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
