Mayoral Charity Ball to take place in May

This year’s Mayoral Charity Ball will take place on Saturday May 18 in The Ardilaun.

This year’s ball will feature an impressive line up of special guests, with all proceeds going to Console, Galway Hospice, the Galway branch of Childline, and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The ball will begin at 7pm with a champagne reception, followed by a gala banquet and a great night of entertainment. The entertainment line-up for the evening includes Trad on the Prom, Frank Naughton and Delia Boyce, and Silkwood, and MC will be Keith Finnegan of Galway Bay FM.

Tickets costing €90 will be on sale in advance of the event at The Treasure Chest, phone 091 567237, and The Ardilaun, phone 091 521433.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the Mayoral Charity Ball Fund can do so at any branch of Allied Irish Bank, account number 35382058, sort code 93-70-96. All donations will be gratefully appreciated.

“I am delighted that the Mayoral Charity Ball 2013 will take place in Galway’s landmark Ardilaun hotel which has served our city so well for over 50 years, and to be maintaining the tradition of supporting many worthy local charities as the Mayoral Ball has done for so many years,” said Mayor of Galway Terry O’Flaherty.

“It has been a great honour for me to serve as mayor of the city for a second time and hopefully a substantial sum of money can be raised for these charities which are doing Trojan work from reduced resources in these difficult times. Throughout the year I have been both amazed and humbled by the work being done throughout the city by the many charitable and voluntary organisations.”
