Ireland’s young jazz musicians to play Gort

YOUNG JAZZ musicians from the west and the north come to Gort this weekend for a special show as part of the Coole Music Orchestra Festival.

The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra, under the baton of Ken Jordan, and the Galway Youth Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of John Fleming, play the Gort Community Centre this Sunday at 1pm.

This is the first time jazz orchestras have played the festival and for this show the young jazzers will perform a swing jazz composition by Katharina Baker, entitled ‘It’s You!’.

In another first for the festival, there will also be the European premiere of ‘It Will Turn Into Memories’ by young Chinese composer Edwin Sung. Currently studying in Cambridge, Edwin will travel to Gort especially for the event.

Tickets for the concerts are €10 adult, €5 child, and €25 family and are available on [email protected] or at the door.
