Lester McNamara of Raheen Woods Hotel presented Galway Hospice Representatives, Mary Tierney and Michael Craig with the "Life in Lights" campaign donation in Raheen Woods Hotel, last Thursday. The citizens of the Athenry area raised almost €600 for the Hospice this Christmas season.

Over the Christmas season Raheen Woods Hotel put forth their annual Life in Lights campaign to raise much needed funds for the Galway Hospice Foundation. Established in 1986 Galway Hospice provides essential palliative care as well as counselling and support services for patients and their families.

The Life in Lights annual campaign is a magical nativity scene light display set in the gardens of Raheen Woods Hotel and this year the citizens of the Athenry Area donated almost €600 towards the Hospice during the Christmas season. Lester McNamara, Director of Raheen Woods Hotel said it was beautiful to see the children so anxious to put money into the crib and the smiles on their faces as they did so.

“A big thank you to the citizens of the Athenry Area and patrons of Raheen Woods Hotel for their generosity, it is money well spent and we hope next year to surpass €1000 for the Hospice.” Each year Galway Hospice requires €1.5Million to provide its services free of charge to those in need and this is no small feat.
