The Frank & Walters take Trains, Boats And Planes to the Róisín Dubh

CORK’S LONG-running indie legends The Frank & Walters play their classic debut album, Trains, Boats And Planes, in its entirety, in the Róisín Dubh on Friday December 21 at 9pm.

The album was released in 1992 during a period of frenzied indie activity in Ireland. It received much acclaim in Ireland and Britain and contained what would go on to become some of the band’s best loved songs - ‘Fashion Crisis Hits New York’, ‘This Is Not A Song’, ‘Walter’s Trip’, and ‘Happy Busman’.

However the Franks are no mere nostalgia act, but very much a going concern. This year saw the album Greenwich Mean Time which state.ie said was “as good as anything they have released hitherto”. Horslips drummer Eamon Carr, in The Evening Herald, praised its “gift for infectious melody, memorable hooks and an inherent sense of wonderment”.

Support is from Protobaby who released their debut album The Spark last March.

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
