Galway festivals benefit from Fáilte Ireland funding

The Galway Comedy Festival, Cúirt, and the Clifden Arts Festival were among 11 Galway festivals and events which received grants under Fáilte Ireland’s Festival Funding Allocations.

The grant allocation was €84,500 and were distributed as follows: Celtic Seris Tour de Connemara (€9,000 ); Clifden Arts Festival (€8,000 ); Galway Comedy Festival (€7,500 ); Galway Food Festival (€13,000 ); Cúirt International Festival of Literature (€7,500 ); Galway Masters Basketball Association (€5,000 ); Umbro Galway Cup (€13,000 ); Ballinasloe Horse Fair (€5,000 ); Baboró International Arts Festival for Children (€7,500 ); Galway International Rally (€4,000 ); Áras Eanna Arts Centre, Inis Óirr (€5,000 ).

The funds have been welcomed by Labour Galway West TD Derek Nolan.

“Festivals are the lifeblood of Galway,” he said. “Baboró and Cúirt have really helped put Galway on the map as a thriving, buzzing, and exciting place to visit and live. As well as show-casing the talents of our people, these events are a critical revenue spinner which can breathe life and revenue into the region.
