One man and his puppet

AUSTRALIAN COMIC Sammy J and his erstwhile sidekick, the purple puppet Randy, are coming to the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday at 8.30pm.

After three and a half years as an occasionally sober children’s entertainer, Randy has temporarily settled on a career in comedy. However life has not been easy for his purpleness. Born in Wichita, Kansas, he had a mental breakdown at the age of seven.

He has been married, divorced, arrested, kidnapped, and thrown from a moving hovercraft. However he is finally cleaning up his act.

Sammy J & Randy have won acclaim for their show Sammy J & Randy in the Forest of Dreams and Sober, and won the Barry Award winner for best show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival with Ricketts Lane. Chortle.co.uk has described their shows as “filthy, frenetic, and gloriously funny”, while The Scotsman said they are “fiendishly talented.”

Support is from Tom Deacon and Johnny Candon. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
