Walk from Limerick to Galway in aid of the Samaritans

Co-founder of international radio station, Irish Country Music Radio, Pat ‘Garret’ Butler, will walk from Limerick to Galway in aid of the Samaritans next week.

Together with his sons Mark, Luke, and Gareth, his wife Caroline, listeners and DJs from ICMR, soccer players, and volunteers, he will begin his trek on Monday August 27.

On his arrival in Galway on August 29, there will be a fundraising dance at the Galway Bay Hotel. Acts on the night include Joe Cooke, Glen Flynn, and well-known Meathman Ray Murtagh. Admission to the dance is €5.

The aim of the walk is to raise funds and awareness of the services offered by the Samaritans. The organisation provides support those in emotional distress and at risk of suicide.

Support for this walk comes from district soccer leagues, the mayors of Limerick, Clare, and Galway, as well as students’ unions in the main colleges.
