Babies and parents invited to Salthill thanksgiving service

Salthill parish will hold its annual thanksgiving service for parents and babies baptised at Christ the King church on Sunday December 7 at 3pm.

Babies who were baptised at the church during 2008 and who may live outside the parish are invited to the 20 minute prayer ceremony which will be followed by tea.

A spokesperson for the organisers says they get a very positive response from all who attend.

“People like both the ceremony and the short get-together afterwards for a cuppa. We hope this little service will provide a link for families from having their baby baptised to continue a contact with the church and enable the parish to be there for the families and to facilitate them in experiencing God in all our lives.”

So impressed were some families by the ceremony that they returned a second year, she says.

“The parish has chosen the first Sunday in Advent for this ceremony of thanksgiving as a baby is so central to Christmas. This will be the baby’s first Christmas as a baptised Christian.”
