Bon Secours hospital to sponsor Simon mini-marathon

The Bon Secours Hospital has been announced as the title sponsor for the upcoming Galway Simon Women’s Mini-Marathon.

The event, which is in its fourth year, will take place in Salthill on June 24.

Hazel Hendy of Galway’s Simon Community welcomed the news that the hospital will be supporting the event.

“Bon Secours is one of the leading health and medical providers in the country. We are looking forward to this year’s Galway Simon Women’s Mini-Marathon, it’s a great opportunity for people all over Ireland to come out, take part and support Galway Simon in this event,” she said.

“It will also make a great family day out, with plenty to see and do, whether people are just getting into running or treat the mini-marathon as a serious challenge. We will be in Salthill on June 24 to promote Galway Simon Community and the good work we continue to do in the west of Ireland.”

Chief executive of Bon Secours Hospital, Gerry Burke, said the hospital was pleased to support the work Simon does with the homeless in the Galway area.

“We’re delighted to be title sponsor for the Galway Simon Women’s Mini-Marathon again this year. It is a very special event that has grown in popularity every year,” he said.“For Bon Secours it is an opportunity to support an event that promotes running and fitness in general and also supports the local community through such a worthy charity as Galway Simon.”
