Revolutionary new heart screening system coming to Galway

Pulsewave Ireland is returning to Galway with the revolutionary Bpro pulse wave analysis device, providing affordable and accurate heart and artery screenings.

The Bpro and A-Pulse Casp has just won a prestigious innovation accolade in the Times higher education awards for Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology.

The Bpro and A-Pulse Casp has been developed by Healthstats in Singapore and can calculate a person’s central aortic systolic pressure (CASP ), ie, blood pressure closest to the heart, accurately and non-invasively. The A-Pulse has been validated in clinical trial to have an accuracy of 99 per cent, as compared to the pressure measured by inserting a catheter directly into the aorta close to the heart during a cardiac catheter procedure/angiogram.

This non-invasive and inexpensive way of measuring CASP is to rewrite doctors’ approach to the diagnosis and treatment of blood pressure related ailments.

“From our travels around Ireland we have found many people at risk of circulatory problems, from children as young as 12 to people in their seventies,” said Jim Leacy of Pulsewave Ireland. “The Bpro measures the aortic pressure as well as the flexibility of the arteries. Screenings are carried out by a health stats certified technician and a full printout of the results are given on the day which can be brought back to your own GP or cardiologist if necessary.”

Pulsewave Ireland will bring the BPRO to the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, on Tuesday May 29, The Corralea Court Hotel, Tuam, on Wednesday May 30, Hotel Loughrea & Spa on Thursday May 31, The Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort, on Tuesday June 5, Clifden Station House Hotel on Wednesday June 6, and Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, on Thursday June 7 with appointments available from 10am to 10pm daily. The rates are adults €50, OAP/medical card €40, couple €80. Call 087 6995357 for appointments. Appointments are essential.
