Online Marketing in Galway to host social media meeting

Online Marketing in Galway, a new non-profit network dedicated to helping businesses make the best out of online marketing, will be holding a meeting on May 29.

OMiG was set up in August 2011 to encourage greater use of the internet by local businesses in the west of Ireland, and to for companies to make the most out of limited resources when promoting themselves online.

Last month, more than 30 people attended the organisation’s meeting, with Pat O’Grady representing Enterprise Ireland. Volunteers with experience in Google AdWords, SEO, PR, and social media marketing have already signed up to OMiG.

The meeting will take place in the Harbour Hotel and speakers include Salvatore McDonagh of Web Marketing Ireland, Michelle Frawley of mediasavvy.ie, Ronan Kavanagh of Spam Titan, and Carol Murphy of event sponsors goldenpages.ie

Maricka Burke Keogh of OmiG said that she was delighted with its continuing success.

“We are always keen to get more people involved in the network and have been delighted with people’s response to date,” she said.

“In the near future we will have some companies offering some online freebies and likewise for anyone that would like to actively contribute relevant articles or news we encourage them to get into contact with us.”

OMiG recently signed a sponsorship deal with goldenpages.ie, which is currently expanding into an online operation.

Carol Murphy of goldenpages.ie said the company recognised the importance of social media marketing.

“While our print directory remains our core product, we recognise that social media interaction is crucial to our clients in communicating with their customers,” she said.
