Laser wins Connacht title

Laser Swimming Club is celebrating its recent award as Connacht Club of the Year 2012.

The Galway-based club received the accolate at the recent Swim Ireland Awards Ceremony in Belfast.

And there was double jubilation for the club when its president, Tony Farrell, was elected president of the national governing body, Swim Ireland.

Farrell is one of the founding members of Laser Swimming Club which was first formed in 1993. Well known in Irish swimming circles, Farrrell, along with coaching and administration duties down through the years, has taken on an advisory role in the club. Throughout his many years of involvement with swimming, Farrell has served on many committees, both regionally and nationally, and was the person who took on the leadership of Swim Ireland at a time when the organisation was facing many difficulties. His commitment to swimming was rewarded last year with a national award volunteers in Irish Sports.

Laser Swimming Club welcomes new members at all levels. Learn to swim classes take place in Leisureland on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Laser Swimming Club also caters for developmental and competitive swimmers with training running five days a week.
